Do you remember your favorite book from childhood? I have so many childhood favorites but my best of all is the novel Gone With the Wind written by Margaret Mitchell. I read it in 1981 and I was totally obsessed.

What jobs have you had? I’ve worked as a teacher’s assistant, cashier, retail, social work, customer service, but mainly in the administrative/clerical field. Because it’s easy and I get to sit on my ass for 8 hours per day.

How do you feel about cold weather? It’s hell with ice

What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like? Dragging myself out of bed, smoking a cigarette and contemplating should I call off from work but realizing that I need money because we live in a capitalist society, I go off to wash my ass.

What’s something most people don’t understand? Empathy which is the ability to step into someone’s shoes and understand what they’re going through.

You’re writing your autobiography. What’s your opening sentence? I’m just a little Black girl from the South East Side of Chicago.
