What aspects of your cultural heritage are you most proud of or interested in?

The aspects of my cultural heritage that I’m most proud of are oral history and the ability to turn a shack into a home. I come from a long line of female griots who told the history of our family and I’m the griot for my branch of the family tree. And the women in my family knew how to turn a house into a home. I’ve lived in some rough places but when you come into my home, it’s an oasis. I got that knack from my matriarchs.
